Background

On May 7 – 8, 2004, the Canadian Religious Conference and Kairos Spirituality-for-Social Justice Centre sponsored an educational workshop in Ottawa called: Trafficking in Women and Children:  A Lucrative Multinational Business.  What is Our Response?  The outcomes of this event were: an increased awareness of the issue, increased local interest about the problem of human trafficking, and the formation of PACT- Ottawa (Persons Against the Crime of Trafficking in Humans).  PACT-Ottawa is registered as a non-profit corporation in the Province of Ontario, Canada.  Members contribute their time, ideas and area of expertise on a voluntary basis to the action of the group.
